Funeral services for Wilburn "Bill" Schultz of Plano are scheduled to be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Memorial Oaks Chapel in Brenham. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday, April 27 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Mr. Schultz died Sunday, April 22, 2012, in Plano. He was born Dec. 11, 1926, in Leroy, Tx, the son of Emma and A.C. Schultz. He grew up in Brenham and graduated as valedictorian from Brenham High School in 1944. He served his country during World War II in the Pacific theater of operations, serving as a radar man on a destroyer. After World War II, he attended Texas A&M University graduating with honors with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He played the cornet and baritone in the nationally famous Fightin'' Texas Aggie Band. In 1948, he met Madeline Arendale, of Somerville, and on May 29, 1949, he married "the love of his life". He was employed by Shell Oil Company and they lived in several locations during the 10 years he worked for them. He and his family moved to Los Angeles, California in 1960 with Loffland Brothers Drilling Company. In September of 1973, Loffland moved him to Tulsa, Oklahoma as Vice President of Northern Operations. He quickly rose to President. He retired in 1987. He was a member of the American Petroleum Institute and the American Association of Independent Drilling Contractors AAIDC. He enjoyed dancing with his wife and taught his two daughters how to jitterbug and fox trot when they were very young. He loved playing golf, watching his daughters grow up, and finally, his greatest joy, to play with and spend time with his five precious grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Viola "Vi" Henslee and Esther Bobinski. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Madeline Schultz of Plano; daughters and sons-in-law, Lisa and Bill Hannah and Molly and Randy Haga; his grandsons, Blake and Clay Hannah; and his granddaughters, Paige, Kelly, and Brooke Haga, all of Plano. He is also survived by his brother and sister in law, Robert and Christina Schultz. Funeral arrangements are by Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main St. in Brenham, Texas.
