William Tappe

William Henry Tappe, 75, of the William Penn community died February 7, 2010 at Gazebo Terrace Convalescent Center in Brenham. William was born in the William Penn community on October 23, 1934 to John and Sarah Wieghat Tappe. William attended William Penn and Brenham High Schools. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn by Reverend C.T. Appel. William was engaged in farming and ranching. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn and served as treasurer. He was a chairman of the barrow committee of Washington County Fair for 12 years and served on Washington County swine committee for 40 years. For over 35 years he was a member of Prairie Hill-Rocky Hill Fire Department and the Washington Fire Department. He also served as past president of Washington County Farm Bureau and as a director. He was a pitcher on the Bethlehem Lutheran Church slowpitch team. He worked for Mundelius Print Shop for over 30 years and also worked on Jenkins Ranch. Survivors include his sister, Dora Kieke of Burton; nephew, Darrell Kieke of Burton; niece, Judy and Jerry Krebs of Willow Springs; great-nieces Jenna Krebs and Katie Kieke; and great-nephew Jared Krebs. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, M. C. Kieke. Funeral services for William Henry Tappe will be held Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of William Penn with Pastor Jeffery King and Pastor Paul Hartfield officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Family will receive friends and relatives Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Serving as pallbearers are Mark Bentke, Mike Meadows, Gary Stelter, Harold Tappe Jr., Robert Tappe, Jerry Vaughn, Mike Muegge, and Kenny Lucherk. Honorary pallbearers are the Members of the Prairie Hill-Rocky Hill Fire Department and Washington Fire Department, members of Washington County barrow and swine committees, and Mr. and Mrs. Al Jenkins. Memorials may be directed to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the fire departments or a charity of your choice.
