Willie Ligues, 69, of Brenham, died December 6, 2013, in Hospice Brazos Valley Inpatient Facility in Bryan. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 10 at Memorial Oaks Chapel. The funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 11 at Memorial Oaks Chapel with Rev. Robert Hofmann and Jesse Meschwitz officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Burton. Mr. Ligues was born July 15, 1944, in Burton, Texas, to Tito and Chona Regino Ligues. He was a graduate of Burton High School, where he played football, and Blinn College. For 35 years he was employed at Blue Bell Creameries. He was a member of Bethany Christian Church of Burton. His family was very important to him, and he was committed to the children in his family. He enjoyed caring for his cattle and cooking, especially barbecuing. Survivors include his sisters, Margaret Ligues, Frances Ligues and Victoria Meschewitz, all of Brenham, and Pas Kellogg of Crystal Falls, Michigan; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ambrosio "Butch" and Josephine Ligues and Johnny and Darlene Ligues, all of Brenham; and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and three nephews. Pallbearers will be Bobby Ligues, Benjamin Ligues, Anthony Ligues, Terry Stegmann, Billy Chow and Wesley Westerfeld. The Ligues family acknowledges and thanks all the relatives, friends, neighbors, care givers, church members, and his pastor and his wife for the expressions of sympathy and kindness through cards, telephone calls and other gifts.
