Willie Mae Richter, 85, widow of Barry Richter, died February 10, 2011 in The Care Center of Brenham. Born March 21, 1925 in Brenham to William and Lena Westerfeld Spitzer, Willie Mae was both baptized and confirmed in St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill, and attended area schools. On April 1, 1945, she was married to Barry Richter in St. Matthew Lutheran Church of Sandy Hill. She has been a member of St. Peter''s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill for many years. Willie Mae was a sales clerk in the Weiner''s Department Store for 20 years, a job she truly enjoyed. She was known to be a wonderful cook, and loved working in her flower beds. She was especially fond of butterflies, observing them among her flowers. Willie Mae and her friends traveled throughout the area, enjoying country music presentations. Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Corliss and Larry Schoenemann of Harlingen, Hope and Russ White of Dallas, and Lynn and Kenneth Levien of Round Top; grandchildren Dustin Levien of Huntsville, Karen and Bo Boykin of Harlingen, Greg and Monica Schoenemann of Dallas; five great-grandchildren: Kasey, Kylie, and Kennedy Boykin, and Megan and Justin Schoenemann; sister-in-law Shirley Spitzer of Katy, and Viola Koehn and Mildred Richter, both of Brenham, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding her in death was her husband, Barry Richter, on May 30, 1994, her parents, and one brother, William Spitzer. Funeral services for Willie Mae Richter will be held Sunday Feb. 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Peter''s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill, with Pastor Allen Kethan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives Saturday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Willie Mae''s nephews will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be directed to St. Peter''s Lutheran Church of Gay Hill.
