Willie Schomburg

Willie Ray Schomburg, 61, of Bleiblerville, passed away December 18, 2011 in St. Joseph Regional Health Center in Bryan. Willie was born September 17, 1950 in Brenham to Herbert Sr. and Nelda Kirchner Schomburg. He was baptized November 6, 1950 by Rev. Walter Wolf in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome, and confirmed by Rev. Wolf on April 11, 1965 in the same church. After attending Bellville High School, he was employed by Dockal Electric for many years, and later worked for Blue Bell Creameries for 25 years, retiring in 2010. Memberships included the Bleiblerville Volunteer Fire Dept., Austin Co. Peace Officer''s Association, and the Texas Sportsman Association. Willie enjoyed directing traffic for local trail rides and other occasions in the Austin County area. He especially treasured time spent with his family and friends. Funeral services for Willie Ray Schomburg are scheduled for 10 a.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome, with Pastor Michael Groseclose officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends and relatives from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Survivors include brothers Howard Schomburg and Herbert Schomburg, Jr, both of Bleiblerville, and Floyd Schomburg and special friend, Jane McKnight of New Ulm; nephews and their spouses: Chuck and Tara Schomburg of La Grange; Troy and Dana Schomburg of Shelby, Bradley and Cindy Schomburg of Washington, and Gerald and Julia Schomburg of Anderson; great-nieces and great-nephews, whom he loved dearly include Caitlyn and Tyler Schomburg, Lindsay and Dalton Schomburg, Braylee and Colin Schomburg, and Dustin and Abigail Schomburg. Willie Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Sr. and Nelda Schomburg. Serving as pallbearers are Chuck Schomburg, Troy Schomburg, Bradley Schomburg, Gerald Schomburg, Eric Wayne Glenewinkel, and Lynn Dusek. Memorials may be directed to Salem Lutheran Church of Welcome, or to any favorite charity.
