Willie Thaler

Willie "Bill" Thaler, 90, passed away May 1, 2014 in Scott and White Hospital in Brenham. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m., Monday, May 5, 2014 at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg, with Pastor Denise Seymour officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m. Sunday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel. Bill Thaler was born Sept. 3, 1923 in Burton to Willie Fred and Lillie Heine Thaler. He was educated in area schools, and served his country in the Navy during World War II. He served the Brenham area for 52 years as a barber. Bill was a member of the Burton American Legion. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law Billy and Susie Thaler of Brenham; daughters and sons-in-law Diane and Tom Rau of Columbus, Jackie and Raymond Mueller of Brenham, Lois and Jerry Faigle of Waller, Laurie and Roger Jones of Lago Vista, and Sherie Koudelka of Moulton; grandchildren: Cheyne Solesbee, Tyler Rau, Curt Faigle, Greg Faigle, Carl Faigle, Amy Fritz, , Kim Ellison, Jill Lozano, Adam Mueller, Billy Thaler, Jr., and Kristy Knight; great-grandchildren Madison, Cole, Alyssa, Brianna, William, Jack, Drew, and Blake; brother and sister-in-law Raymond and Annie Laurie Thaler of Brenham, sister-in-law Marjorie Ann Thaler of Houston, as well as his good friend, Sara Branch. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Preceding him in death was a brother, Eugene Thaler, and sisters Eloise Whitener and Lunette Roehling. His grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church of Rehburg or to the Wounded Warriors Project.
