Wilma Jeanette Kraus Eckermann, 96, passed away November 14, 2016 in Brenham.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Industry United Methodist Church, with Pastor Leighanne Brechin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Oaks Chapel.
Wilma Eckermann was born October 27, 1920 in Round Top to Hugo and Ida Mayer Kraus. She was baptized October 15, 1942, and attended the Nassau Rural School, and graduated from Round Top School.
On March 1, 1942, she was united in marriage with Miles Eckermann in Industry United Methodist Church. She lovingly cared for her family as a homemaker, and helped her husband on the farm.
Wilma was a member of Industry United Methodist Church for 74 years, where she also was a member of the Dora Circle. An avid sports fan, she especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren play various sports. Gardening, canning, sewing and crocheting were favorite pastimes. She took great pleasure in cooking and baking for her family. Although she did not hunt, she enjoyed going to the deer camp and spending time there with family.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law Larry and Mary Ann Eckermann of Burton, and Scott and Denise Eckermann of Brenham; grandchildren: Stacy Kunetka; Kori Kelm and husband Keith; Wade Eckermann and wife, Donna; Ashley Lay and husband Kyle; Brooke Eckermann and fiancé Bradley Mueller, Courtney Friedel and husband Greg, and Candi Weige; great-grandchildren: Garrett Kunetka, Jordan Kelm, Sienna Kelm, Cash, Jocey and Peyton Eckermann; Kayden and Paisley Lay, Emma and Aiden Friedel and Avery Weige; sister-in-law, Idell Kraus of Giddings. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband, Miles, her parents, three brothers and one sister.
Serving as pallbearers are Wade Eckermann, Keith Kelm, Garrett Kunetka, Greg Friedel, Kyle Lay, and Bradley Mueller. Honorary pallbearers are Rose Gutierrez, and a
her caregivers at Oak Haven Assisted Living Center in Industry.
Memorials may be directed to First United Methodist Church Prayer Garden in Industry.
