Zelone H. Kettler Schroeder, 89, of Brenham, died March 9, 2007, in Trinity Medical Center in Brenham. Mrs. Schroeder was born May 19, 1915, in the Zionsville community of Washington County, Texas, to William and Louise Sternberg Kettler. She was baptized Aug. 1, 1915 at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville by Pastor Karl Mueller and was confirmed June 5, 1930, in the same church. She attended Burton School. On June 5, 1937, she was married to Ernest Schroeder at Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville by Pastor Karl Mueller. In the same year, she and her husband moved to Houston, where they were charter members of Faith Lutheran Church of Bellaire. Mrs. Schroeder s husband preceded her in death on April 16, 1969. On May 12, 1982, she moved to Brenham and became a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville, where she was a member of the Bluebonnet Club. Survivors include two sons, Ernest Schroeder and wife Joan of Detroit, Michigan and Jerry D. Schroeder of Chandler, Arizona; her daughter, Mary McClure and husband Hugh of Trinity; five grandchildren, Bill and John Schroeder, Donna Farmer and Amber and Ashley Schroeder; three great-grandchildren, Kristy Schroeder and Ryan and Kyle Farmer; and a very close friend, Mary Wesolik. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and two brothers. A graveside service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10 at Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery at Zionsville with Pastor David Hall officiating. The family requests that memorials be made to the Zion Lutheran Church Bluebonnet Club or to Zion Lutheran Church of Zionsville.
